KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) will hold a forum in conjunction with the annual unofficial meeting of religious ministers from four Southeast Asian nations (Mabims) at the Putra World Trade Centre here on July 20.

The forum, which involves Mabims members from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, is part of the sideline activities to enliven the 53th International Quran Recitation Competition from Saturday until 23 July.

Jakim director-general Othman Mustapha said the forum, which would be recorded in two sessions from 9am to noon, would dabble on two subjects, namely the "Miracle of the Quran" and "Understanding the Key to Ummah Unity".

Another event lined-up for the occasion is the third International Quran Seminar at the Malaysian Islamic Training Institute (Ilim), Bangi from July 21 to 23 which would be opened by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, said Othman in a statement Thursday.

He said an exposition from 10am to 11pm from Saturday to Monday would be held in conjunction with the 20th Darul Quran Convocation at Darul Quran, Kuala Kubu Baharu.

Othman said 414 students would receive diplomas and certificates at the convocation, which would be officiated by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Dr Mashitah Ibrahim on Monday.
