LONDON, July 15 (Bernama) -- The Crown Prince of Malaysia's northern state of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, has launched the Perlis food promotion at Bonda Restaurant here.
Running from July 16 to 30, the promotion follows similar initiatives held last month in Osaka and Bandung.
"It aims to promote Perlis on the international stage by way of food. The dishes available are universal in terms of taste and not overly complicated," said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin who launched the promotion with his wife, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah.
The mouth-watering menu includes "kurma daging ala Arau" (meat in spicy gravy), "masak asam pedas rebus Kuala Perlis" (chilli-hot dish), "gulai ikan masin Padang Besar" (curry fish), "sambal tumis sotong Timah Tasoh" (squid cooked in chilli paste) and "ikan pindang menora Wan Kelian" (fish in clear gravy).
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin invited Malaysians living or studying overseas to visit Perlis which offered various tourism products, including nature-based activities and agro-tourism.
The Crown Prince also took the opportunity to invite potential investors to the state in northern Malaysia which borders Thailand.
He said they should consider investing in the tourism sector encompassing areas like eco-tourism, agro-tourism, health and maritime development.
Perlis welcomed 346,416 foreign tourists in 2010 and the number is expected to hit 363,700 in 2015.
