MALAYSIAN QUEEN HANDS OVER RM1 MLN CONTRIBUTION FOR JAPAN'S TSUNAMI VICTIMS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Queen Tuanku Nur Zahirah
handed over a RM1 million (USD332,585) contribution from Malaysia AEON
Foundation for Japan's tsunami victims at a charity dinner function here.

The cheque for the amount was handed to Asean and China AEON adviser
Akihito Tanaka at the AEON Charity Dinner held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention
Centre.

Also present were the Queen's mother Nur Rahmah Mohd Zain,
Malaysia AEON Foundation chairman Abdullah Mohd Yusof and Yayasan
Penyayang chief executive officer Lela Mohd Ali.

The more than 300 attendees were entertained with songs by Sheila
Majid and a batik fashion show by local designers including Azizi Hassan,
Jalaluddin Zaini and Khalid Shamsuddin.

Abdullah said the foundation managed to collect over RM3 million last year
to help victims of disasters and the poor and to provide medical aid throughout
the world.
