KUCHING (Malaysia), July 16 (Bernama) -- The Bernama-Sarawak Tourism Walk
Hunt 2011 got underway here Saturday morning with about 250 participants.

The event, held for the first time in Sarawak, was flagged off by Bernama
General Manager Hasnul Hassan at the Kuching Waterfront.
The hunt, themed "Heritage Trail of the Land of Hornbills is divided into
three categories namely for members of Bernama Staff Club, members of the
public, and students.

Bernama Editor-in-Chief Yong Soo Heong said the hunt was part of KKB's
charity programme besides encouraging local tourism activity.

It was first introduced in Peninsular Malaysia in 1988.

"We are confident that the programme can help in encouraging local tourism
activities, specifically in promoting the unique cultural heritage of the Land
of Hornbills," said Yong, who is KKB president.

He said that apart from taking part in a recreational activity, participants
would also help contribute towards Rumah Seri Kenangan old folks' home, here.

The heritage trail event will take place until in the afternoon and to be
followed by a closing ceremony where several cultural performances and a lucky
draw would he held at the Kuching Waterfront.

Tourism and Heritage Minister Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg will give
out the prizes at 5pm.
