17 INTERNATIONAL TEAM TO TAKE PART IN PAINTBALL PROMASTER WORLD C'SHIPS
KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 (Bernama) -- Twenty teams, including 17 professional teams from abroad, will battle it out in the 2011 Paintball Promaster World Championships in Pekan, in east coast state of Pahang starting Dec 6.
Organising Committee chairman Datuk Noreta Bustanuddin said the six-day tournament offers cash prizes worth RM300,000 (US$99,508) in the professional category and RM100,000 (US$33,167) for amateurs.
"So far 10 of the best teams in the world have confirmed their participation in the championships," she told reporters here Monday.
Noreta said the countries that will be competing in the professional category are England, United States, Russia, Australia, Hungary and Germany while 20 of the best teams in Malaysia and Asia will take part in the amateur category.
She said the tournament would give exposure and opportunity for local teams to gain experience when competing or watching the international teams in the competition.
