MALAYSIAN KING WANTS MALAYSIA-SOUTH KOREA RELATIONSHIP TO BE ENHANCED

SEOUL, July 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin urged the government to enhance the already strong bilateral, regional and international relationship with South Korea.

Tuanku Mizan and his consort Tuanku Nur Zahirah who arrived in Seoul, South Korea for a two-day official visit Tuesday, said there was a vast potential for growth in the future.

This was the first state visit by the King to South Korea to reciprocate the visit by President Lee Myung-bak in December last year.

The King urged Malaysians, including students living in South Korea, to play an important role in assisting the government to further strengthen the existing relationship.

"They must respect the culture and local community in whatever activities as long as they lived here. They must also project themselves with dignity, respect and safeguard the good name of the country and religion.

"I am proud to note that Malaysians living in South Korea are mostly made up of students and youths who were sent here under the Look East Policy Executive Development Programme," said Tuanku Mizan after a dinner with about 100 Malaysian nationals and students here Tuesday night.

Tuanku Mizan was accompanied by Tuanku Nur Zahirah, Minister of
International Trade and Industry Mustapa Mohamed and Malaysia's Ambassador to South Korea, Ramlan Ibrahim.
