Russia Commends Qatari Efforts to Achieve Peace in Darfur
Moscow, July 22 (QNA) - Russia has praised the efforts being exerted by the state of Qatar for the signing of the agreement between the Republic of Sudan and the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) to approve the Doha document for Darfur peace.
Addressing a news conference, Russian's foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich has commended the efforts exerted by the State of Qatar and the mediation in order to achieve the peace process.
He urged the Sudanese government to launch a comprehensive political process before preparing for a comprehensive peace process in Darfur.
Lukashevich also expressed his country's support for the recommendations of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to extend, for a further period of 12 months, the mandate of the United Nation/African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
