INDONESIANS IN SABAH STATE URGED TO ABIDE BY 5P PROGRAMME
TAWAU (Sabah,Malaysia), July 23 (Bernama) -- The 50,000-odd Indonesians working in various sectors in Tawau in East Malsysia state of Sabah have been urged to register with the Immigration Department under the 5P programme which covers registration, amnesty, monitoring, enforcement and repatriation.
The Indonesian Consul in Tawau, Widoratno Rahendra Djaya said the Indonesian authority would extend its full cooperation to ensure the message of 5P reached Indonesian citizens in the district.
"We really hoped the 5P Programme is successful in registering illegal immigrants. The cooperation between the employers and the mass media is also required to ensure information on 5P Programme reaches the workers," he said.
Widoratno was speaking to reporters after attending an anti-vice campaign at the Tawau district police headquarters here Saturday.
The 5P Programme for the whole state of Sabah began on July 18 and will end on Aug 1, targeting foreign citizens who entered the country illegally or had overstayed.
