Iran beats Qatar in Asian Club Volleyball Championship
TEHRAN, July 24 (MNA) -- Iran’s Paykan started the 2011 Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship with a win over Al-Rayyan of Qatar on Saturday.
Defending champion Paykan defeated the Qatari club 3-1 (25-19, 25-13, 17-25, 25-17) at the Sriwijaya Sport Hall in Palembang, Indonesia.
Paykan is scheduled to face Talyp Sporty Asgabat from Turkmenistan on Sunday.
The Iranian side has been drawn in pool B along with Qatar, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Thailand, and Myanmar’s representatives.
Pool A consists of teams from Indonesia (host), Japan, China, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
