SINGAPORE, July 25 (Bernama) -- Inmarsat, the world's leading provider of global mobile satellite communications, sees Malaysia as a growth market for its products in the mining, as well as, oil and gas (O&G) industry.

Director for Land Mobile Business Drew Brandy said the Malaysian mining industry was valued at US$40 billion last year, up 17 per cent, year-on-year, while oil and gas was responsible for 8.4 per cent of the region's supply.

"It is predicted that by 2015, Malaysia will be the only net exporter of oil in the region.

"These are two key market sectors that rely extensively on the use of Inmarsat services. The introduction of IsatPhone Link enables us to complete our proposition of services to this sector through offering a fixed voice variant that will support remote teams," he told Bernama.

Within the land business, Inmarsat has a portfolio of products that covers broadband data, voice and low data rate services from machine to machine communications and telemetry.

"We recently launched our Global Satellite Phone Services portfolio
with the introduction of IsatPhone Pro in June last year.

"We have since introduced a number of docking units to support use of the product in a number of different environment and also launched a fixed variant (IsatPhone Link) and a maritime product (FleetPhone)," he said.

He said Inmarsat was known to be a quality communications provider with a strong service ethic.
