Iran seeks Poland’s cooperation in collection of World War II documents

TEHRAN, July 26 (MNA) -- Director of the Iran National Library and Archives (INLA) Es’haq Salahi has requested Poland’s ambassador to Tehran Juliusz J. Gojlo to collaborate in collecting and restoring documents on World War II.

Salahi met with Gojlo at the venue of INLA here on Monday where they both discussed collection and restoration of documents related to World War II.

“Both countries suffered physical damages during the war and many were killed or lost families,” Salahi said, adding these documents would reveal the historical facts intentionally hidden over the past years.

He also praised the efforts made by the Polish centers on preserving the remaining documents and said, “Restoring cultural identity and national documents is regarded as a positive act.”

Gojlo also welcomed the idea of collecting the documents by Iran to be preserved for future generations.

The ambassador also announced that his country has plans to hold an exhibition reviewing the influence of Persian culture on Polish culture in autumn.

In addition, Salahi asked for pursuing the contents of the agreements signed between INLA and the National Library of Poland in previous years.
