Isfahan intl. children’s art festival opens
TEHRAN, July 26 (MNA) -- Isfahan’s Naqsh-e Jahan Square, home to many monuments from the Safavid era, hosted the opening ceremony of the First International Festival of Visual Arts for Children and Young Adults on Sunday.
“It’s great that this festival is being held in Isfahan, which is Iran’s cultural capital,” Iranian Office for Visual Arts Director Mahmud Shaluii said at the ceremony.
“The idea for the establishment of the festival was discussed several years ago,” he added.
“I hope the festival achieves steady progress and shows its potential to be transformed into a major event on the world’s art calendar,”
A message sent by Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini to the organizers of the festival was read.
Children flew numerous kites and released doves as part of the programs for the opening ceremony and buckboards began to move, carrying the visitors around the Naqsh-e Jahan Square.
Artists from Italy, Tajikistan, Georgia, Lebanon are participating in the event, which runs until July 27.
