LONG QUEUES FOR MALAYSIA-SINGAPORE MATCH TICKETS

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - Malayan Tigers fans are making a beeline
to buy tickets for the much-anticipated Malaysia vs Singapore second leg match
of the Asian Zone World Cup Qualifier on Thursday.

They came as early as 8am at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil as well as
at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium and Shah Alam Stadium where tickets
are on sale for RM50 (USD16.9) for the grandstand, RM30 (USD10.16) for the open
terrace and RM5 (USD1.69) for children under 12 years old.

Fans can also buy tickets online through www.tickethotline.com.my.

"I came early because the queue might get too long later in the day," said
Mohd Rizal Zamanhuri, 24, a marketing executive.

Football Association of Malaysia ticketing and gate committee chairman
S. Sivasundaram told Bernama that some 60,000 tickets were sold Tuesday.

"We have expected a strong response from the local fans," he said.

He said 25,000 tickets were allocated for the National Stadium and 12,500
each for the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium and Shah Alam Stadium. The
tickets at the National Stadium were sold out at 3.30pm and 5pm at the two other
locations.

Some 10,000 more had purchased their tickets online, he said. Of the 60,000
tickets, 2,000 were bought by Singapore fans.

"There are 25,000 more tickets to be sold at the three stadiums Thursday,"
he added.

Several fans met today said they could hardly wait for the match. It would
be exciting, they said, to see if K. Rajagobal's men could turn the table
on the Lions.

They are also hoping for a change of strategies, particularly to strengthen
the team's defence which looked porous in the Tigers' 3-5 defeat to the Lions
last week.

Wan Mohd Azam Wan Su, a university student, said Malaysians will be fully
behind the team.

KRU Bhd president Norman Abdul Halim also hopes that Malaysia will play well
in the do-or-die match.

"The match with Singapore last week was disappointing but I believe that we
have the players to strengthen our defence," he told Bernama after attending a
seminar, along with actor Rosyam Nor, at the National Sports Council, here.
