JICA to strengthen capacity building on road maintenance for Laos
VIENTIANE,JULY 27.(KPL)- Department of Bridge and Road and Japanese International Cooperation Agency in Laos signed a Memorandum of Understanding on technical term cooperation on national road maintenance last Friday.
The MoU is designed to strengthen the capacity building on national road control and maintenance in Laos and prepare for making manual on technical term on system management of national road maintenance.
It also focuses on improving the capacity building on national road maintenance, management and inspection for technical officials in the central and local levels. The cooperation project will initially conduct in Vientiane and Savannakhet provinces.
The Department of Bridge and Road under the umbrella of Ministry of Public Works and Transport will conduct the cooperation project in cooperation with the JICA for five years till 2016.
Noting into the document were Deputy Director of Department of Bridge and Road Mr. Pothong Ngonphachanh and Country Representative of the JICA to Laos, Mr. Masato Togawa, in the presence of representatives from ministry, JICA experts and relevant officials.
