MALAYSIA'S FIRST DULUX DECORATIVE CENTRE OPENS IN KOTA KINABALU
KOTA KINABALU (Malaysia), July 29 (Bernama) -- The world's largest paints
and coatings company, AkzoNobel, unveiled its first Dulux Decorative Centre here
Friday. It is also the first of its kind, one-stop centre, in Malaysia.
Located at 88 Marketplace, off Jalan Pintas Penampang Baru, the futuristic
and innovatively-designed centre aims to provide customers with value-added
services such as colour consultation and sustainability awareness, said ICI
Paints Malaysia Sdn Bhd managing director Goh Cheok Weng.
ICI Paints Malaysia was acquired by Akzonobel in 2008.
"The Dulux brand has been present in Sabah for many years. But we have
chosen to open the first such centre here, as we view the state as a growing and
buoyant market with lots of prospects.
"When we open a centre in Malaysia, we do not differentiate geographically,
as we view any city in the country as the same. But in the last couple of
years, we see growing demand and needs from customers in this part of
Malaysia. So, we now can provide them, with better services.
"Through this centre, we are not only committed to help them make
sustainable and informed choices in colour trends and design, but provide the
tools as well to unleash their creativity and design potential," he added.
The launch was graced by state Local Government and Housing Assistant
Minister, Ir Edward Yong Oui Fah.
The layout of the Dulux Decorative Centre, which is officially open to the
public from Saturday, has four different sections.
These are the "ColourFutures Wall" where clients will be introduced to the
colour trends of the year, "Inspiration Showcase" for customers to observe the
colour scheme visualisation, a consultation corner to receive expert advice from
the company's colour consultants and the innovation display, which is committed
to the Dulux range of eco-friendly paints.
The Dulux brand is the first in Malaysia to present a complete interior
range of low odour, low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound), the Singapore
GreenLabel and Malaysia Sirim Eco-Label certified emulsion paints.
In conjunction with the grand opening, Goh said a two-day carnival will be
held at the centre Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
The activities include a balloon sculpture clown, a children colouring
contest, inflatable bouncing castles, family games and colour consultation,
besides attractive freebies being given away.
Celebrity designer, Eric Leong, who is also known as Malaysia's favourite
interior designer through his interior makeover TV show, Casa Impian
(now known as Deko Bersama Eric), will also make a special appearance at 5pm
Saturday.
Besides Dulux, AkzoNobel which is headquartered in Amsterdam, the
Netherlands, also has well known brands such as Sikkens, International and
Eka in its portfolio.
AkzoNobel has operations in more than 80 countries with a manpower of
55,000.
