WOMEN HAVE CONTRIBUTED VASTLY TO COUNTRY'S SUCCESS - M'SIAN DPM

    
     
     
    KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin 
deemed women as an important factor in the success and continuation
of Umno and the country's economic and social development.
    
    "I wish to record my appreciation to women, especially Muslim women in the
country, because although they are busy with their work, involvement in politics
or community services, they do not discard their duties towards their families.
    
    "Similarly, housewives have never failed to carry out their responsibilities
as a wife or mother. They have always been the back-bone in the success of their
husbands or family," he said in his closing speech at the United Malays National
Organisation (Umno) Women Al-Quran Recital and Nasyid competition at the Putra
World Trade Centre here Friday.
        
    He added that women have now ventured into various fields, including
business, politics and have shown tremendous courage and success when carrying
out their duties.
    
    "As the community continues to give women a special place, privilege and
status, it leads to a positive development and helps hold women at high esteem,"
he said.
