FAMA CONFIDENT 1MALAYSIA BEST PRODUCTS WILL HIT US$33 MLN IN EXPORT SALES BY YEAR END
FAMA CONFIDENT 1MALAYSIA BEST PRODUCTS WILL HIT US$33 MLN IN EXPORT SALES BY YEAR END
BUTTERWORTH (Penang, Malaysia) July 30 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural
Marketing Authority (FAMA) is confident of achieving the RM100 million (US$33
million) export sales target for 1Malaysia Best products by end of this year.
This is because export sales had already reached RM50 million (US$16.6
million) by June and the sales performance is expected to double up by end of
the year, its Chairman Badruddin Amiruldin said.
"Till now, more than 30 types of 1Malaysia Best products have been exported
to Asean countries and the Middle East," he told reporters after launching the
1Malaysia Best Carnival at the Tesco Extra hypermarket in Seberang Jaya here
Friday.
Badruddin said FAMA also expected to see some 500 entrepreneurs in the agro
based industry to get the 1Malaysia Best accreditation for their agriculture
produce this year.
The process to get the products accredited as IMalaysia Best product
requires a lot of studying as it would have to follow the rules and conditions
that are set not only in this country but also at the international market.
They are decided based on five factors which are halal, health, packaging,
labeling and quality.
"FAMA plays its role by providing help from the marketing perspective," he
added.
