THREE PCT MARKET SHARE TARGET FOR CHINA BRAND SUVs & PICK UP TRUCKS
PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), July 30 (Bernama) -- Green Oranges Sdn
Bhd (GOSB), the distributor for Great Wall Motor Company Ltd (GWM), the largest
privately owned auto manufacturer in China, hopes to garner an initial market
share of three per cent for its sport utility vehicle (SUV) and pick-up trucks
in Malaysia.
GOSB is also a member of the NAZA group.
The modest target was deemed achievable due to the positive response
received to GWM's earlier brand penetration in other countries like Australia,
Italy and South Africa, said Green Oranges Sales and Services Sdn Bhd Chief
Executive Officer Mohd Azli Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin at the launch of GWM's Wingle
5 pick up truck and Haval H5 SUVs here Saturday.
"The Haval SUV have garnered the number one spot for eight years in terms of
sales volume while the Wingle pick-up is the sales champion for 13 consecutive
years in China," he added.
Capitalising on the benefits and advantages of the established Asean Free
Trade Agreement, Mohd Azli said it was GOSB's prime intention to establish a
manufacturing hub in Malaysia for domestic and export market.
The Wingle (pick up trucks) comes in two variants and retails for between
RM60,888 (US$20,296) and RM69,888 (US$23,296) while the Haval H5 SUV will fetch
RM120,000 (US$40,000) on the road.
