SALCON SECURES CONTRACT IN KARNATAKA, INDIA



KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- Salcon Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary, Salcon Engineering Bhd, has secured a RM16.2 million (Rupees 242,888,744 or US$5.491 million) contract from Davanagere City Corporation, Karnataka, India, for the laying of raw water pumping mains and related ancillary works.

The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and the Government of Karnataka.

"As one of Asia's fastest growing economies, there is a huge demand for reliable portable water to ensure consistent growth.

"Winning the tender in Davanagere signifies another milestone for our expansion to tap into the fast growing India water and wastewater market," Executive Director of Salcon, Eddy Leong said in a statement Monday.

This is Salcon's second project in India. Currently, the company is
undertaking a NRW pilot project in Mumbai.
