BUKIT KIARA SLATED FOR BIGGEST PUBLIC PARK IN KL
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The area around Bukit Kiara here, including the Lembah Kiara and Arboretum parks, will be developed into the biggest recreational park in the city, spanning 466 acres.
Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung said the RM250 million (US$84.473 million) project would comprise six zones, namely administration and garden centre; family recreation; tropical Arboretum; high worth Arboretum; riparian; hydrology conservation and biodiversity.
He said the park and Arboretum concept park would be developed in phases and feature a 'live trees museum' with an overall emphasis on the three elements of air, forest and human.
"We have a long-term plan between the current 10th Malaysia Plan and the 14th, to complete the park," he told a press conference after a briefing on the Large Scale Public Park here Tuesday.
Chor said the government was in negotiation with Measat Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd and the Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Club for land lots which were leased out to them.
The Federal Government project would be headed by the ministry and the National Landscape Department, he added.
