Building of big tourism project at Lao side of Golden Triangle

(KPL) Chinese investors are trying to develop the Tonphurng district, located in the Golden Triangle area, by means of a well-funded development plan that would cost US$68 million and known as the Comprehensive Tourism Development Project.
The Dokgniew Kham Company would be constructing facilities for a casino, hotel, golf course, restaurant and shopping mall and the Lao government has given it the green light. Mr Sisa-ath Khoumphanh, who is in charge of this project said that its facilities would attract tourists as the Golden Triangle has borders with Laos, Thailand and Myanmar and it is linked to China by R3 road and Mekong River.
Dokngiewkham Company is leasing 800 hectares of land for 50 years and Mr Sisa-ath also said the project would be completed in 2011.
