FOREIGNER DETAINED, DRUG SEIZED
TAWAU (Sabah, Malaysia), Aug 3 (Bernama) -- A foreign national was detained after police found 771.41gm of cannabis in a sling bag he was carrying.
Tawau police chief ACP Ibrahim Chin said the 55-year-old man was arrested at Kampung Batu 4, Jalan Apas, last July 27 following a tip-off.
He believed the drug was smuggled into the country from the Philippines.
The suspects is detained for investigation under Section 39 (b) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction, he added.
