SINGAPORE BUS, TRAIN FARES TO RISE OCT 8

SINGAPORE, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Singapore is to raise bus and train fares on Oct 8, allowing public transport operators to make an overall one per cent adjustment.

The Public Transport Council (PTC) said in a statement that the amount was less than the maximum fare adjustment of 2.8 per cent the public transport operators (SBS Transit and SMRT) had asked for.

Following the adjustment, adult card fares for buses and trains will increase by two cents per journey while senior citizen concessionary card fares will increase by 1 cent per journey. There will be no change to child/student concessionary card fares.

Cash fares for adult bus and train rides will increase by 10 cents per trip across-the-board. However, there will be no change to senior citizen and child/student cash fares.
