SCOMI ENGINEERING BAGS MONORAIL PROJECT IN BRAZIL THROUGH CONSORTIUM
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Scomi Engineering Bhd has been awarded the RM2.76 billion (US$916.051 million) Manaus Monorail project in Brazil, which it competed for through a consortium.
Of the RM2.76 billion, Scomi Engineering's share in the contract is
about RM646.38 million (US$214.644 million), the company said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia here Friday.
Other companies in the consortium are CR Almeida S/A Engenharia De Obras, Mendes Junior Trading E Engenharia S/A and Serveng-Civilsan S/A Empresas Associadas De Engenharia.
The contract is for design works, manufacture, supply and implementation of the monorail system for the 20-kilometre monorail line for the city of Manaus.
The project which is expected to be completed in 40 months, consists of nine stations from Largo da Matriz to Jorge Teixeira and involves the supply of 10 train sets consisting of six cars in each.
The company said the award does not have any impact on the share capital and/or shareholding structure of Scomi Engineering and or the financial results for the year ending Dec 31, 2011.
