Another goal-fest for Cats against Suns

Geelong have coasted to their second straight triple-figure AFL win, a predictable 29.14 (188) to 6.2 (38) victory over Gold Coast on Saturday at Skilled Stadium.
The Cats led 18.4 to 3.0 at halftime, at which stage it looked as though they might post another entry in the record books, to go with the previous round's 186-point thrashing of Melbourne.
But the Suns, who lost experienced defender Campbell Brown to a suspected serious hip injury in the first term, showed enough fight in the third quarter to prevent a similar final margin.
Brown had to be stretchered off and taken to hospital, leaving the young side even more inexperienced, with captain and former Cats favourite son Gary Ablett missing the match with a hamstring injury.
Classy Cats forward Steve Johnson booted six goals, five of those coming by early in the second quarter, to follow last weekend's seven-goal haul.
Key forward James Podsiadly returned from injury to boot five majors, with Cam Mooney (three goals) and Tom Hawkins (two) also among the spoils.
It gave some indication the Cats' three big forwards could combine successfully in the one attack, although the frequency and precision of their side's attacking moves made their job much easier.
Joel Selwood was outstanding in the midfield, with 33 disposals and three goals, well supported by Joel Corey, before he was subbed off at halftime with the Cats 94 points clear.
Speedster Travis Varcoe, playing off halfback, also gathered a heap of the ball and provided great run through the middle.
The Suns had started the game competitively, trailing by just one point when Josh Fraser marked and goaled early in time-on in the first quarter.
But the Cats surged away, outscoring Gold Coast 15.3 to nothing for the rest of the half, the avalanche beginning soon after Brown's injury.
The Suns' best period came when they opened the second half with three quick goals, including a beautiful tight-angled 55m running shot from super boot Trent McKenzie.
But Geelong goals flowed easily enough by late in the game, with David Wojcinski notching a five-bounce running major.
It was Geelong's 29th straight win at Skilled Stadium and made them the first team in history to post at least 17 wins in a home and away season in five consecutive years.
For the Suns, experienced players Nathan Bock and Jared Brennan battled hard, while Danny Stanley kicked two nice goals to go with his 18 touches.
