MMEA IN OPERATION TO LOCATE MISSING KOREAN

KUDAT (Bernama) - The Sabah/Labuan Malaysian Maritime
Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has mounted a search-and-rescue operation to locate a
Korean teenager who went missing while surfing in the sea, off Tanjung Simpang
Mengayau Saturday.

Tanjung Simpang Mengayau is a popular tourist centre in northern Sabah.

Sabah is an East Malaysia state.

According to a witness, the 18-year-old disappeared after he was hit by big
waves and strong winds while surfing with a partner.

An MMEA statement said Sunday, the operation was coordinated by the Kudat
Fire and Rescue Department, together with an MMEA operation team and local
residents.

Earlier, the victim's family arrived here to conduct a religious ceremony to
locate the missing teenager.
