MALAYSIAN PM NAJIB BEGINS WORK AFTER KNEE OPERATION
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- The Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak
Monday began his official duty after undergoing surgery on his left knee, which
was injured during a sporting activity, on Monday.
The Prime Minister, who arrived at his office at Perdana Putra Building at
about 9am, appeared cheerful and healthy, dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt,
blue necktie and dark jacket.
Najib, who was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on July 31, was
discharged on Wednesday.
He later chaired the National Economic Council meeting which started at
9.30am.
Among those attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin
Yassin, Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Minister in the Prime
Minister's Department Noh Mohamed Yakcop, and Minister of Information,
Communications and Culture Dr Rais Yatim.
Also present were the Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Sidek
Hassan, Finance Ministry Secretary-General Dr Wan Abd Aziz Wan Abdullah,
and Bank Negara Malaysia (central bank) Governor Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz.
On Monday evening, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the breaking of
the fast with Cabinet Ministers, Chief Ministers and former prime ministers at
Seri Perdana, his official residence, here.
