Egypt to host Iranian film week

TEHRAN, Aug. 8 (MNA) -- Egypt will host an Iranian film week in the sometime in the foreseeable future, the director of Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation announced during a meeting with Egyptian cineastes on Saturday.

Ahmad Miralaii said that the foundation is ready to host Egyptian cineastes saying, “By holding several of these film weeks, the two nations can become better acquainted with each other’s culture.”

Iranian films promote strengthening family ties and emphasize moral issues, so families in Muslim countries trust Iranian films, he said.

“We planned to hold a film script contest on the Islamic Revolution and we invite you and other Muslim cineastes to take part in the competition,” he said.

Egyptian director Ahmed Maher also proposed making a joint product with Iran after the translation of the film script into Persian.

Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has invited a delegation of Egyptian cineastes to Tehran to exchange their experiences and views with their Iranian counterparts.
