Father and son to give Iranian-Indian fusion music performances
TEHRAN, Aug. 8 (MNA) -- Setar virtuoso Masud Sha’ari and his son Sina will perform a program of Iranian-Indian fusion music during concerts at the Tehran's Niavaran Cultural Center on August 11 and 12.
“We will perform some improvisations using instruments like setar, classic guitar, tabla and oud,” Masud Sha’ari told the Persian service of ISNA.
He said that most of the selections to be performed at the concerts were composed by his son Sina and were based on mutual themes found in Iranian and Indian music.
“The rhythms used in the compositions are mostly inspired by the rhythmic atmosphere of Indian music,” he added.
Sina Sha’ari on oud, classic guitar and tabla and Masud Sha’ari on setar will be performing in the concerts.
