E-WASTE PROGRAMME TO OVERCOME DISCARDED ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS
SANDAKAN (Malaysia), Aug 9 (Bernama) -- The Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS)
is introducing the E-Waste programme to create awareness among the community on
the importance of throwing away discarded electrical items at the proper place.
Council secretary Jeffry Aman said it was necessary for the electrical
products that were no longer in use to be separated from the other solid items
since they could cause a permenant pollution effect.
"Public awareness on the proper manner to throw away waste products such as
telivision sets, radios, computers and washing machines in the district is still
low, and through this programme a greater awareness will be created," he said in
a statement, here Tuesday.
