MALAYSIAN CLOUD COMPUTING MARKET TO SEE GROWTH IN THREE YEARS

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian cloud computing market,
which is in its initial take-off stage, will see increasing implementation of
the technology among local companies in the next three years, says IBM Malaysia.

Country Cloud Leader Ku Chuan Cherng said there would be increasing interest
among Malaysian enterprises to embrace cloud computing, going forward, given the
cost, competitive business pressure and growing consumer expectation.

"We are at starting point of adoption which provides tremendous
opportunities to grow although there are some companies which have advanced in
embracing cloud computing.

"We expect to see a fast pick up rate in adoption, despite most companies
looking at cloud computing as an extension to what they are already doing
today," he told Bernama in an interview.

Local enterprises adopting cloud computing would be able to deliver IT
without boundaries, improve speed and dexterity, create new business
value and save on cost.

However, he said concerns about security, privacy, changes in ways to
deliver IT services and control of data, continued to impede adoption.

"Therefore, most businesses have to overcome the worries by understanding
the potential of cloud computing and how they can leverage on it to reinvent
their businesses," Ku added.

Companies today are under pressure such as workforce mobility and
increasing productivity, due to the shift in the economy, business environment
or user behaviour, which has placed greater demands on technology/IT systems.

Cloud computing has opened immense opportunities for companies as a
platform for business innovation and growth.

"Its not only about advancing IT systems but about reinventing businesses,"
he explained.
