Seeds of protest against U.S. growing in Europe: Iran

TEHRAN, Aug. 10 (MNA) – A top Iranian military official says Washington’s hegemonic policies are touching off anti-U.S. protests in European countries.

“Current data shows seeds of protest are starting to grow in Europe against imperious performance of America… and this shows European people and intellectuals no longer want to pay the price for America’s hegemonic and domineering policies,” Brigadier General Masoud Jazayer told ISNA news agency in an interview published on Tuesday.

He went on to say that the United States’ inability to pay back debts amounting to trillions of dollars has tipped its economy into recession and caused it to lose its economic and political status.

“The U.S. community, now more than ever, is paying the penalty for strategic blunders of their dim-witted and self-interested leaders,” the general noted.

The U.S. warmongering policies in Iraq and Afghanistan and its interventionist policies toward other countries would be of such examples, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jazayeri said Washington, influenced by Pentagon, is seeking to deploy tens of thousands of security forces across American cities to contain the spread of unrest in the country.

The general added U.S. officials are afraid that recent developments in the Arab World and Europe would arouse tension in the U.S.
