MDEC AIMS TODOUBLE REVENUE OF MSC MALAYSIA-STATUS COMPANIES
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 (Bernama) -- The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) aims to double the revenue of MSC Malaysia-status companies to US$400 million from US$200 million last year, upon the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Media Prima Bhd on Monday.
Chief Executive Officer Badlisham Ghazali said the collaboration with Media Prima, Malaysia's leading integrated media investment group, would allow MDeC and its funded companies to promote their products, especially in the creative industry, internationally.
"This collaboration with Media Prima will further boost our efforts to accelerate the growth of our creative industry and encourage more people to venture into this thriving global industry.
"This is particularly critical as we move towards high-value economy," he told reporters after the MoU signing.
The MoU paves the way for few projects to be commercialised such as the 3D animation series entitled "BoBoiBoy" produced by Animonsta Studios Sdn Bhd, which gained popularity after being shown on TV3, a private tv channel.
Other projects are a public service announcement on a six-episode 30-second production which will be aired this month on TV3 and a subsequent collaboration with Media Prima on MDeC-initiated "Cerita Rakyat Malaysia" (Malaysian Folklore/CERAMY).
