President Choummaly Sayasone visits Veun village to boost agricultural production

(KPL) On 17 September, Mr. Choummaly Sayasone, Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and State President visited Ban Veun, Sayboury district, Savannakhet province, to inspect and advise on the market-oriented agricultural production.
President Choummaly was briefed by Village Party Committee Secretary on the achievements of the village, particularly the rice production and cash corps plantation for self-consumption and for market.
According to the report from the village party committee secretary, the village so far has eliminated poverty problem for all the residents due to the good leadership of the village leaders and by the implementation of the state policy on village building and village cluster building.
On this occasion, President Choummaly has asked the leading officials and people of Ban Veun to plant more rice, cash crops and other trees on a commercial manner, especially maize, chilly, sesame, bean, and sugar canes to supply to the MitLao sugar factory. He also suggested people of Ban Veun to raise animals based on their capacity, particularly cows, buffaloes, pig, goats and fishes.
Ban Veun group comprises with six small villages with 8,376 people, 1,561 families and 1,313 households. President Choummaly also visited the construction site of the MitLao sugar factory, which commenced for construction since January 2008 and is expected to be finished by October, 2008.
