LOVE FOR NATION CRUCIAL AMONG MEDIA PRACTITIONERS
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- As the media is increasingly plagued by numerous problems, media practitioners should foster love for the nation.
Information Communication and Culture Minister Dr Rais Yatim said this was to ensure media practitioners were made accountable to such values.
He said a responsible media should be responsive to enable the government to build 1Malaysia in every which way it could.
Rais said this during Prime Minister Najib Razak's breaking of fast
ceremony, which was hosted by Bernama at Wisma Bernama here Monday.
He said Bernama, entrusted with planning and carrying out various media policies which were agreed upon by the government, had handled numerous challenges.
Among them was its success in getting rid of its debts, added the minister.
"Bernama is also facing various challenges, one of which is putting the struggle of its media on par with the print, electronic and social media, which are very active and expanding in our midst," noted Rais.
