SIX FOREIGN ENVOYS PRESENT CREDENTIALS TO M'SIAN KING
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- Six foreign envoys on Tuesday presented their credentials to the Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at National Palace here.
They were the Ambassador of Spain Maria Bassols Delgado, Shigeru Nakamura (Japan), Nguyen Hong Thao (Vietnam), Askar Beshimov (Kyrgyz Republic), New Zealand's High Commissioner David Gregory Pine and Singapore's High Commissioner Ong Keng Yong.
Delgado, 53, a law and business management graduate, started her career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain in 1985.
Her last post before her appointment as ambassador to Malaysia was Deputy Director in the General-Directorate for Consular Affairs and Ambassador at-large for Migration Affairs at the Spain Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Nakamura, 62, graduated from Hitosubashi University in 1973 and received his Master of Politics from Oxford University in 1976.
Before his appointment to Malaysia, Nakamura was appointed as the
Ambassador for International Economic Affairs with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in July 2009.
Thao, 54, prior to his current position, was the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Western Boundary Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam since July 2007, as well as an Associate Prof of Law since Nov 2009.
Beshimov, 49, started his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyz Republic as Second Secretary, Department of CIS and East Europe countries in 1995.
He succeeds Tursunbay Bakir Uulu who completed his tenure as the Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic in Malaysia on Sept 2010, Beshimov was an Adviser to the republic's Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2009.
David Gregory Pine, 50, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) New Zealand in 1993 and this is his second assignment to Malaysia.
He served as Deputy High Commissioner from 2002 to 2005 and prior to his latest posting to Malaysia, he was a director at the Economics Division MFAT, a post he held from 2008.
Ong, 57, was previously the Secretary-General of Asean for the term 2003 to 2008 and this assignment as Singapore's High Commissioner to Malaysia is his second ambassadorial appointment and his second return to this country as a diplomat.
He also served as Singapore's High Commissioner to India, concurrently accredited as Ambassador to Nepal from 1996 to 1998.
