Iran's Judiciary official: Indictments issued against 4 state directors

TEHRAN, Aug. 16 (MNA) – Judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei announced on Monday that four indictments have been issued against former government directors, who have recently been arrested on charges of involvement in financial corruption.

Mohseni-Ejei, who is also the national prosecutor general, made the remarks during a press conference on Monday.

He also said indictments for several other directors will be issued in the near future.

Over the past few months, Alireza Moqimi, head of the Aras economic free zone in northwestern Iran, Ali Asghar Parhizkar, head of the Arvand economic free zone in southern Iran, and Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh, secretary general of the High Council of Iranian Affairs Abroad, have been arrested on financial corruption allegations.

Elsewhere in his remarks Mohseni-Ejei criticized the daily Iran for publishing an article in defense of Malekzadeh and rejected the claims that he is innocent and is being held in deplorable conditions.
