Iran sides with Venezuela against Imperialism: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, Aug. 17 (MNA) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran will stand by Venezuela in the joint struggle against imperialism to the bitter end.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Tuesday.

He emphasized the importance of joint cooperation between the two countries in the struggle against imperialism and the unjust system prevailing in the world.

He went on to say that Iran regards the power of Hugo Chavez and the Venezuelan nation as that of freethinkers of the world.

“Chavez is the voice of independent nations of the world, and we are glad that this voice is loud and clear,” he added.

Ahmadinejad also expressed satisfaction with the improvement of Chavez’s health and hoped for his full recovery, saying, “Thank God that you are in good health.”

During the conversation, Chavez also thanked Ahmadinejad for his phone call and said Iran and Venezuela, in cooperation with freethinkers of the world, will be able to thwart all the conspiracies hatched by imperialists against independent nations.

He also said that ever increasing ties between the two countries would be in favor of all independent nations in the world.
