1MDB APPOINTS 11 CONSULTANTS FOR KLIFD
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), a
strategic development vehicle of the Malaysian government, has appointed 11
consultants for the Kuala Lumpur International Financial District (KLIFD).
1MDB in a statement Wednesday said the consultants, comprising local and
global companies and covering various fields including sustainability,
infrastructure and engineering, landscape planning and traffic management, were
appointed based on their experience and track record.
"We wanted to be very thorough and transparent in the selection process. We
adopted best global practices.
"In addition, we engaged potential vendors in continuous dialogue to ensure
seamless synergy with the team," said 1MDB Real Estate Sdn Bhd chief operating
officer, Azmar Talib.
1MDB Real Estate Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary of 1MDB.
He said given the scale of the development and its impact on national
growth, 1MDB seeks not just capability and capacity but people who also share
its vision for a sustainable and holistic KLIFD as well as the passion to
deliver a Greater KL.
Among the successful candidates were EDP Consulting Group Sdn Bhd
(infrastructure engineers), Perunding NFL Sdn Bhd (quantity surveyor) and United
Kingdom and US-based Buro Happold Consulting Engineers (infrastructure engineers
and sustainability consultant).
Azmar said the appointment added to the Master Planners named recently,
Akitek Jururancang Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Machado Silvetti & Associates, following
an international design competition.
Currently in the planning phase, the 30.35-hectare development in the Imbi
area fronting Tun Razak Road, is expected to start construction, beginning next
year.
The KLIFD will leverage on Malaysia’s existing strength in Islamic finance
and play on its strategic location to complement other financial centres within
the region by attracting leading financial institutions and top global companies
to create a catalytic pool of world-class players.
The selection of consultants for Bandar Malaysia, a KLIFD twin development
in Sungai Besi, will undergo the same rigorous process, Azmar said.
