SUSPECTED INDIAN MILITANTS HANDED OVER TO INDIAN AUTHORITIES

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Three Indian nationals, who were detained
under the Internal Security Act on Aug 4 for suspected involvement in the
India-based militant group Babbar Khalsa International, were handed over to
Indian authorities on Tuesday.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar identified the three as
Amarjit Singh Jasvir Singh, 28, Daljit Singh Ajaib Khalsa, 37, and Kawal Singh
Soundh, 39.

He said in a statement Thursday that investigations found that the trio had
been involved in providing logistics assistance to BKI senior operatives in
India.

Khaled did not reveal where the three were detained, but said they had
worked as a restaurant operator, music teacher and construction contractor in
Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

According to Wikipedia, the BKI is a militant group mobilised by armed
Sikh soldiers in India established in 1978 after the murder of a group of Sikhs
by the Nirankaris, regarded as a heretical sect in the community.

The BKI has carried out a series of bombings in the country under the agenda
of caring for the welfare of the allegedly suppressed community.

The group has been categorised as a terrorist organisation by several
countries including India, Canada, the United States and Britain.
