“Macbeth” to be performed at Tehran's Molavi Hall

TEHRAN, Aug. 20 (MNA) -- After two years, Hadi Hejazifar will finally stage his adaptation of “Macbeth” employing a combination of puppets and actors at Tehran’s Molavi Hall.

“The initial negotiations have been completed with officials. Molavi Hall is the best place for our performance and I hope it will be possible in the near future,” Hejazifar told the Persian service of ISNA.

He said that he will use a modern style for the performances which are for adults.

“The Puppet Theater Center of the General Office for Dramatic Arts has resumed its activity again and I hope it will help our performances,” he said.

The play will be performed by a combination of veteran and novice puppet artists and the troupe will be announced after the exact dates of the performances are scheduled.

A plan to stage the play at Tehran’s Iranshahr Theater Complex in 2009 was cancelled, but no reason was mentioned for the cancellation.

Hejazifar also performed the puppet show version of “Romeo and Juliette” in Tehran which was enthusiastically received by the audience.
