‘Self-proclaimed anti-terrorists negotiating with terrorists’
TEHRAN, Aug. 21 (MNA) – The Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan says those who invaded Afghanistan under the slogan of “war on terrorism”, are now negotiating with terrorists as they fail to achieve their goal despite ten years of war.
Ambassador Fada Hossein Maleki made the remarks in an address to a gathering of Afghan media men who attended an iftar (Ramadan fast-breaking) hosted by the Iranian Embassy in Kabul on Friday.
The ambassador was indirectly referring to the U.S. and its NATO allies which are secretly negotiating with Taliban to find an exit from the Afghan quagmire.
“More than 10 years have passed since the United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan under the pretext of campaign against terrorism and drugs, but what has happened since then?”
He also said the Westerners are seeking to suggest that regional governments cannot manage their affairs and that their systems are in dire need of change.
He advised the Westerners not to undermine peace and stability in the region because they themselves would be the first victims of instability.
