Diplomats urged to fulfil the party and state policy

VIENTIANE,AUG.(KPL)- President Choummaly Sayasone has asked the diplomats to do their utmost to complete the party and state policy on foreign affairs.
President Choummaly Sayasone who was invited to the closing ceremony of the Foreign Affairs policy meeting held in Vientiane last week also said that in the past few years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has had many successes in establishing relationships and implementing cooperation with many countries.
The ministry has also successfully implement policies that promote peace, independence, friendship and collaboration, he noted.
“Human resource deve-lopment is of vital importance for all ministries, including Foreign Affairs, to help the party broaden relationships and cooperation with other nations,” said Mr Choummaly, who is also Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
All the meetings participants need to compile their information and research, review and evaluate and share ideas on the departments implementation efforts over the last five years and contribute to the development of a work plan for the ministry from now until 2015, he urged.
The Party and the government needs to continue to expand and strengthen the relationship, special solidarity and cooperation with Vietnam and broaden the partnership between Laos and China, which includes support for wide-ranging cooperation and broadening our relationship, he added.
The government and the Party have placed importance on expanding our relationships with socialist countries and pledged to support mutual development efforts.
“We are pleased that Asean countries strive to strengthen cooperation and move towards the establishment of the Asean community. Laos continues in the spirit of developing broad relationships and friendships through fairness and cooperation and cultivating mutually beneficial arrangements with neighbouring countries, the United Nations Development Programme, international organisations and non-governmental organisations. ”
Laos has hosted many important meetings in the past, including the greater Mekong sub-region summit and, most recently, the first meeting of State Party to the Convention on Cluster Munitions.
Laos’ profile on the international stage will be increased further when the country hosts the ASEM Summit in November 2012.
High-ranking officials o f the Party, government and the National Assembly intend to continue to work together to strengthen and expand our relationships with many countries, which will contribute to the protection and development of our nation, said Mr Choummaly.
The implementation of Laos’ foreign affairs policy, at all levels, should strive to cultivate understanding of the Party and the nation’s aims, which are to develop friendly relations with foreign nations and contribute to realising our socio-economic development goals.
He also urged diplomats to actively seek funding, knowledge, experience and new technologies necessary to develop the nation and facilitate the country’s removal from the UN’s list of Least Developed countries by 2020.
He expressed his hope that after the meeting the work of the ministry would continue to expand and meet with success.
