FORMER DRUG MULE TO BECOME SPEAKER TO DETER OTHERS
BALING (Kedah, Malaysia), Aug 22 (Bernama) - Former drug mule Rosna Shariff who was released from a prison in Peru will become a speaker to prevent more people from falling victim to drug syndicates.
Putera 1Malaysia Club chairman Abdul Azeez Rahim said Rosna who would arrive on Tuesday would be meeting several parties to relate her experience in a Peruvian prison.
Rosna would advice those offered free holiday abroad from certain quarters to ingore them fearing they would end up as drug mules.
Azeez said he would also help many more drug mules languishing in several prisons abroad.
"However, we only assist those who have been victimised," he told reporters after presenting 'Aidilfitri' (Eid) cookies and cash aid to patients at Baling District Hospital here on Monday.
Putera 1Malaysia Club offered to help bring home Rosna, 43, who stranded in Peru because she had no money.
Rosna had spent two years and eight months in jail for carrying 5kg cocaine four years ago.
Azeez advised the people, especially women and teenage girls to be wary of offer of free travel via lucky draw or quiz.
"When the victim is arrested, she will suffer in a foreign prison as the family can't afford to help as the cost is too high," he said.
