“Daybreak of the 19th” unveiled at Tehran museum

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) -- The Persian painting tableau “Daybreak of the 19th”, featuring the moments Imam Ali (AS) was heading to the mosque for morning prayers of the 19th of Ramadan, was unveiled here on Saturday at Tehran’s Imam Ali (AS) Religious Arts Museum.

Created by master miniaturist Jalil Jokar, the paining portrays the birds and unhappy angles, begging the Imam not to leave his house.

Imam Ali (AS) was stabbed in the head with a poisoned sword by Abd al-Rahman ibn Muljam al-Muradi in the mosque of Kufa, Iraq, on the 19th of Ramadan and was martyred on the 21st.

The nights of the 19th, 21st, and 23rd of Ramadan are known as the ‘grand nights’, on one of which the entire Quran was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (S).

The 44 x 59 cm artwork was unveiled in the presence of the Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini and a group of artists.

The painting reflects the righteous and evil spirits in this world. The angels on the top add a spiritual dimension to the painting, while the devil is frightened by seeing the firm and peaceful portrait of Imam.

Jokar is known as the founder of fractalism in Iran. He is currently teaching art and miniature at various universities. He has so far participated in over 30 exhibits in Iran and other countries.
