Filmgoers pick Iranian family drama “Nader and Simin” at Dutch festival

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) -- Asghar Farhadi’s acclaimed film “Nader and Simin, a Separation”, which opened the World Cinema Amsterdam, won the Parool Audience Award.

Running from August 10-21, “Porfirio” by Colombian director Alejandro Landes also received the World Cinema Amsterdam Jury Award.

“Nader and Simin, A Separation” is about a marital breakdown set against a backdrop of social and family turmoil. It won a Golden Bear for best film at the Berlin Film Festival this year and its cast ensemble received best actor and actress Silver Bears at the event.

The multi-award winning movie is one of the entries in the 21st Focus on Asia Fukuoka International Film Festival, which will be held in Japan from September 16 to 25.

The film is also expected to compete at the New York Film Festival which will be held from September 30 to October 16.

Shahab Hosseini, Leila Hatami, Sarina Farhadi, Sareh Bayat and Merila Zarei are among the cast members of the film.
