VIRGINIA QUAKE: M'SIANS IN DC, VIRGINIA REPORTED SAFE       

    KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- All Malaysians in Washington DC and the
state of Virginia in the United State are reported safe following the earthquake
that hit Virginia early Wednesday morning (Malaysian time).
    
    The Foreign Ministry said information obtained from Malaysia's embassy in
Washington and Consulate-General in New York, indicated no Malaysians were hurt.

    A magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit Virginia at 1.53pm local time (1.53am
Malaysian time). It was reported tremors were felt in most of the US' east coast
 including Washington and New York.
    
    So far, the situation in Washington and Virginia was calm and normal,
according to a statement issued by the ministry here Wednesday.
    
    However, the ministry advised Malaysians in the two areas to take safety
precautions and follow advice given by the Malaysian missions.
