FLOODS FORCE EVACUATION OF 30 LANGKAWI VILLAGERS       

 
      
    LANGKAWI (Malaysia), Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Heavy rain from early Thursday
caused flash floods which forced the evacuation of 30 villagers to two relief
centres on this legendary island.
    
    Langkawi Social Welfare Officer Che Ahmad Che Noor said 20 people from
Kampung Belak Kedawang were being accommodated at the hall of Sekolah Kebangsaan
Kedawang and 10 people from Kampung Atas at Dewan Shifa in Padang Matsirat.
    
    Details of the victims were being recorded to provide necessities such as
food and blankets, he said.
    
    Langkawi is an island in the Malaysian northern state of Kedah.
