MALAYSIA’S STELLA-IN SIGNS MOU WITH CHISHOLM INSTITUTE IN MELBOURNE

MELBOURNE, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Chisholm Institute here has signed a
memorandum of understanding with Malaysia's Stella-In International to provide
educational and vocational training for young Malaysians.

Stella-In International Advanced Aesthetics Academy was founded in 1980 by
Madame Stella Cheah, an international consultant and trainer in beauty and
complementary therapies with more than 45 years of experience.

Stella-In International has centres in Penang, Butterworth and Kuala Lumpur.
They have trained thousands of young people over the years.

"Stella-In provides the finest educational experience and training in beauty
and cosmetology," Stella-In International chief executive Leslie Hong said in a
statement.

The academy is accredited by the Skills Development Department of Malaysia's
Ministry of Human Resources to assess and verify candidates for the Malaysian
Skills Certificate.

"In line with the (Malaysian) government initiatives Stella-In International
will apply to become a Centre of Excellence," Hong said.

The academy is also collaborating with Berjaya University of Hospitality,
Kuala Lumpur, in a joint venture to provide professional education and training
in the beauty, wellness and spa industries.

Chisholm Institute is a multi-disciplinary education provider with five
campuses in Melbourne. Its qualifications are recognised both nationally and
internationally.

"Chisholm offers strong higher education pathways into its own niche degree
programmes and has a range of articulation arrangements and partnerships with
other recognised higher education providers," Hong said.

The agreement between Stella-In International and Chisholm will provide
opportunities for students from both colleges to undertake additional study in
both countries.

Stella-In International graduates' qualifications will be recognised in
Australia and Chisholm has designed a number of programmes which will enable
graduates to access both niche study areas and/or Australian diploma and degree
qualifications.

Last week a delegation from Stella-In International, including Cheah, Hong
and Education Director Halene Hong, academy educators and students took part in
a two-day study tour of Chisholm here.

The visiting Malaysian students experienced first hand specialist make up
techniques and spa therapies including stone therapy under the supervision of
experienced Chisholm educators.

Chisholm hosted a formal signing ceremony witnessed by Malaysian
Consul-General to Victoria, Dr Mohd Rameez Yahaya, and attended by dignitaries
from both organisations.

The event provided the opportunity for Cheah and her team to further explore
with Hayley Whittle-Campbell, Manager of the Hair and Beauty department at
Chisholm, education and training options for students from both organisations.
