Recognition of Palestinian state not the final step: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, Aug.27(MNA) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the recognition of an independent Palestinian state is not the final step.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a pre-sermon speech at Friday prayers in Tehran on International Qods Day.

He stated, “Everyone should take this point into consideration that the recognition of an independent Palestinian state is not the final point rather it is an initial step” and a “step forward” toward liberating all of the occupied territories.

Palestinians should not get satisfied with the establishment of a weak government with limited authority over a small part of the Palestinian land, Ahmadinejad stated.

“Palestinians should establish the Palestinian state through unity and solidarity and take a step forward,” he added.

This regime is a cancerous tumor that will metastasize if even a small part of it remains on the Palestinian soil, Ahmadinejad stated.

He went on to say that the United States has agreed to the establishment of two states on the occupied lands to avail itself of a historic opportunity to regroup with the aim of saving the Zionist regime.

Ahmadinejad also said that the country of Palestine has existed since 70 years ago, and the recognition of a Palestinian state cannot be regarded as a concession.
